Cottontown Farm produce does not use seeds that are GMO. Some argue that GMO is a great way to both increase the food supply and decrease food prices. While that may be true in the short term, the bigger question is what are the consequences in the long term to the food supply, our environment, and even our own personal health? For example, GMO's remove diversity from the agricultural business. Examples from history such as the Irish Potato Famine illustrate the potential for disaster when we limit the genetic diversity of our food supply. One crop disease can wipe out huge portions of our food supply in a short time leading to famines. It sounds alarmist, but it has happened before, and it is not an impossibility in the future if we allow the conditions that can cause it to happen again.
